Abstract

The study of wave-propagation phenomena in a multiphase medium, for example in a gas-liquid or gas-solid system is of fundamental importance in many field of sciences. In this talk, we will consider a simplified two-phase flow model as an example, and discuss a class of Godunov-type method to solve the problem numerically. This includes an overview of front tracking methods for hyperbolic conservation laws. Some numerical results will be present to demonstrate the usefulness of the algorithm for practical problems.
